I was stuck in a storm.
First came the black sky, the wind and then the rain.
It started gently, but steady.
It got heavier and started pounding.
“Is it ever gonna end?” I thought.
It began to slow a little.
I thought I saw some sun.
Suddenly, it got even heavier.
I thought “well it can’t get any worse.”
Like swinging doors, the sky opened up and it rained like buckets being poured out.
Then came BOOMS of thunder and high voltage lightening strikes.
It electrified the tin roof on which I was standing.
My shoes disintegrated.
Now, I was barefoot, soaking wet, on a tin roof in a high voltage lightening storm.
I prayed for God to make the storm end.
To my surprise, God told me to wait.
I didn’t know how long I would be waiting…how long the storm would last.
I hadn’t planned to be there during the storm, but I was indeed there.
For the first time, I noticed how good the tepid rain felt on my sun scorched skin.
I then noticed how clean everything looked and smelled in the rain.
I saw the thirsty palm trees swallowing the moisture.
The fields that were once cracked and dry were soaking up the falling water.
The steady pelts almost massaged the tense muscles in my back and on my face.
I needed the massage.
It was only then that I could hear the melodic percussion of the drops on the roof.
It was a gorgeous sound.
That was the day I learned to dance in the rain.
